Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation, has a diversified political environment and has made substantial progress toward democratic administration since the country's transition from the military government in 1999. This article provides a critical examination of Nigerian elections, electoral institutions, and election administration, with a focus on understanding the country's democratic course. It explores the historical backdrop of Nigeria's democratic journey, investigates electoral systems and procedures, and assesses election administration's role in developing the democratic environment. The essay also explores the role of electoral systems and election administration in promoting inclusivity, accountability, and political stability in Nigeria. The article also goes into Nigeria's problems and potential in strengthening its democratic processes. This article intends to give insights into the complexity of Nigeria's democratic path, as well as throw light on the important aspects that contribute to its success and prospective areas for improvement, via an in-depth study.
